Pride is Worse than Sin

James 4:6 “But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.”

God resists the proud because the proud resist Him. The Lord can do nothing to a man who does not see his need of Him. This is why Pride is worse than normal outward sins because at the very least, the person who gets tripped up into sin still sees their own weakness and their need for the Lord Jesus in their lives. But the person who is proud of his own achievements and independence does not see the importance of the Lord in Him. Pride will make it hard to admit that you are wrong.

This is why it is very important that we know and recognized grace as the verse above told us. Christians who know grace know that God fully accepts them despite the range of responses of their twisted old nature. Grace makes you aware that we can do nothing without our Lord and are our own actions toward God cannot please Him. And it is Grace that made us realize that our standing is not based on our own works but on Jesus’ gift of righteousness to us! We must remember that in God’s kingdom, you need to go down in order to go up, to be humble to be exalted and to be a servant in order to be King.
