WHY CHRISTIANS SHOULD SUPPORT THE RETURN OF JEWS TO ISRAEL

Recently, Palestine-Israel conflict started to escalate in Jerusalem and then to many parts of Israel. This is because of the Israeli court ruling evicting six Palestinian Families residing near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem to accommodate returning Jewish settlers in Jerusalem. Palestinian Muslim communities cannot accept this decision and started a riot near their Al Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. The Israeli government then stands with the court’s decision and disperses the rioting community. This has then escalated to the war that the whole country is experiencing now.

There is no doubt that the situation in Israel is a complex one. So complex that in fact, despite all the resources that have gone into finding a “solution” for this conflict over many decades, they are no closer in this ‘peace process’.

NOT JUST A POLITICAL CONFLICT

What I find amusing is, some ministers are just seeing this conflict of Jews returning back and settling in Israel as political. They are even advocating that Christians should not get involved in this or even not to support this because this is all politics. They cannot see the bigger picture. For them, this conflict is just like choosing what color of T-shirt to wear or choosing a politician to vote and never to be taken seriously by Christian. They cannot see the Spiritual significance at all. For them, standing with Israel is only involving in politics.

But is this conflict of the Jews settling in Israel only political? Again, this is the danger of basing our beliefs on the opinions of men. As Christians, we must base our beliefs on the Word of God alone and not on the 6 o’clock news or Facebook post. The Bible says that we live in a world that is in the power of the evil one. A world that is anti-God, anti-Christianity and anti-Israel on the whole. That’s why basing your beliefs on the news and social media of this world is never a good idea. The world, in general, hates Israel because Israel is a reminder that God exists.

Therefore, we will now see this conflict through a bigger picture which is the Word of God. And we will prove to these ministers that this conflict is not only political. In fact, we will not tackle any politics at all. We will solely depend on the Bible. We will prove to these ministers that the conflict is actually SPIRITUAL. That this is a conflict between the children of God and the children of the Serpent. This is a conflict between the god of Islam and the God of Israel. This is a conflict between Satan and the Lord Jesus Christ.

Below are the three reasons why Christians should support the return of Jews to Israel.

3 REASONS WHY CHRISTIANS SHOULD SUPPORT THE RETURN OF JEWS TO ISRAEL

These are also the reasons why the Israel-Palestine conflict is actually Spiritual and not just political. This is the bigger picture.

1. THE LAND IS GOD’S AND GOD GAVE IT TO THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL

Lev 25:23 “The land, moreover, shall not be sold permanently, for the land is Mine; for you are but aliens and sojourners with Me.”

Did you know that the land of Israel is God’s? This land is so important to the Lord that when He gave it to the children of Israel, they are not allowed to sell the land permanently to others. Why is the land so important to the Lord? It’s because THE LAND OF ISRAEL IS FORMERLY A PART OF THE GARDEN OF EDEN. Yes, Israel is what remains of the Garden of Eden today.

Israel is formerly the Garden of Eden made by the Lord for His son Adam. The land of Israel is the “glory of all land, a pleasant land and the land flowing with milk and honey” (Eze. 20:6, Psa. 106:24), a fitting description of the Garden of Eden that’s why this land is so important to the Lord.  

In the East of the Garden of Eden, the Lord also planted a Garden where He puts Adam to live (Gen. 2:8). This garden East of Eden is actually the City of Jerusalem today. This garden is the heart of the Garden of Eden. It is in this garden also that Satan and God have had an ongoing battle since the creation of Man. Satan has caused much trouble in this place since the dawn of Man. That’s why if you will notice, in the midst of this Garden, you can find both the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. These Trees represent God and Satan.

You will also notice in Genesis chapter 3 that in this Garden, there is already the Serpent. If Adam is the son of God, the Serpent is the son of Satan. This Garden was given to Adam, the son of God. But the Serpent, the son of Satan, is already there trying to possess it also. But since this Garden is made by God for Adam, this inheritance should only be for him and not of the Serpent. But then Adam failed because of the Serpent and he was banished from his own inheritance (Gen. 3:23-24).

You see? The land of Israel is the inheritance of the children of God, especially the City of Jerusalem. But then Satan is trying everything to prevent the children of God to claim this inheritance. And Satan is using his children to do this. If the Word of God is the Promised Land for the Spiritual Israel (us) and that we should possess It, the Promised Land for the biological seed of Abraham is no other than the Land of Israel and they should also possess it. If the Bible is so important to us, the same is the Land of Israel is so important for the Jews.

Before the children of God can occupy this land, the children of Satan is already occupying it. An example of this is the Serpent who occupies the Garden before Adam. When God gave the Land to Abraham as an “everlasting possession for his children” (Gen. 17:8), Canaan, the son of the Serpent and his children are already occupying it. When God gave the land to Joshua to possess it (Jos. 1:2-5), the Philistines (Palestinians) are already occupying the land. Today, while the Lord is making the Jews return to their land, the Palestinian Muslim communities are already residing on it. They even built their Al Aqsa Mosque in the temple mount in Jerusalem where the Temple of God was formerly built. Indeed, this is like the tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil trying to occupy the heart of the Garden.

Oftentimes, the conflict between the sons of God and the sons of Satan is in Jerusalem or will always start in Jerusalem. Now, the conflict started in the Temple Mount in Jerusalem which is the location also of the conflict between Adam and the Serpent – the beginning of Man’s conflict. This is obviously is in line with what the Bible says through the Prophet Zechariah saying that the burden of the world will still be Jerusalem:

Zec. 12:2-3 “Behold, I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that causes reeling to all the peoples around; and when the siege is against Jerusalem, it will also be against Judah. It will come about in that day that I will make Jerusalem a heavy stone for all the peoples; all who lift it will be severely injured. And all the nations of the earth will be gathered against it.”

Ever since before, Jerusalem has always been a city in siege. It is a city forged in conflicts. It has seen crusades. It is a city that has been destroyed thrice, besiege twenty-three times, recaptured forty-four times, attacked fifty-two times but still recovers. It will severely injure anyone who will try to lift it. This is because Jerusalem is the Garden east of Eden planted by God to be possessed by Adam. And Satan has been trying everything to stop the children of God from possessing the land. Obviously, this is not at all political but Spiritual. The root of everything is Spiritual.

Again, Satan has caused much trouble in this place since the dawn of Man. Spiritual battle is going on in this place between God and Satan. It is certainly not what we would expect of a land that is “beautiful” and “pleasant” and which was supposed to be a delightful paradise. Yet, the Lord God had chosen that place to make His Presence known and to put His Name in the midst of it. God has allowed His adversary to somewhat ‘hinder’ His Divine Plan for a season that the Gospel might be preached to the Gentiles (Rom.11:24-25). But eventually, all things will be fulfilled according to His Eternal Plan. I believe the Light of the Shekinah Glory will soon shine upon God’s chosen people again in the midst of Israel – for the last time – to establish Itself there forever.

2. THE LORD WANTED THE CHILDEN OF ISRAEL TO RETURN TO THEIR LAND

Jer. 31:8 “Behold, I will bring them from the north country, and gather them from the coasts of the earth, and with them the blind and the lame, the woman with child and her that travaileth with child together: a great company shall return thither.”

Eze. 37:21 “Then say to them, thus says the Lord God: Behold, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from all around, and bring them to their own land.”

It is the will of God to gather Israel and make them return to their land as it is their inheritance. That’s why to say that this conflict of the Jews returning to Israel is merely political and is only the act of Israel’s political leaders today, is utter foolishness.  According to Joel 3:2, God will even judge the nations who have scattered His people and who divides the land of Israel.

The Word of the Lord is very clear: God will gather the Jews back in the land of Israel not because they have repented or because of their obedience. The Bible pointed out VERY CLEARLY that the Lord will NOT gather because of their goodness but because of HIS NAME’S SAKE. And this in-gathering has already started since 1948 when Israel has become a nation. As we can read:

Eze 36:19 So I scattered them among the nations, and they were dispersed throughout the countries; I judged them according to their ways and their deeds.
Eze 36:20 When they came to the nations, wherever they went, they profaned My holy name–when they said of them, ‘These are the people of the Lord, and yet they have gone out of His land.’
Eze 36:21 But I had concern for My holy name, which the house of Israel had profaned among the nations wherever they went.
Eze 36:22 “Therefore say to the house of Israel, ‘Thus says the Lord God: “I do not do this for your sake, O house of Israel, but for My holy name’s sake, which you have profaned among the nations wherever you went.
Eze 36:23 And I will sanctify My great name, which has been profaned among the nations, which you have profaned in their midst; and the nations shall know that I am the Lord,” says the Lord God, “when I am hallowed in you before their eyes.
Eze 36:24 For I will take you from among the nations, gather you out of all countries, and bring you into your own land.

So those who are believing that the Lord is not the One Who is gathering the Jews today in their land because they are still unbelievers, have missed these verses big time.

And why would God gather His people today? The regathering in unbelief is actually in preparation for judgment, namely the judgment of the Great Tribulation. This is where they will suffer so much that they realized their sins of killing our Lord Jesus.  Zechariah chapter 12 shows that the nation of Israel will look to the One whom they have pierced and they will be cleansed from their sins.

Also, the sealing of 144,000 Jews who will accept the message of the Two Witnesses in Revelation 11 will happen. Before the 70^th Week of Daniel will start, before the Great Tribulation will start, the Lord God will gather first the 144,000 Jews in Israel (Rev. 12) so that when the Two Witnesses will preach their message in Israel during the first half of the Great Tribulation, the 144,000 Jews are already in Israel.

Now, if the Two Witnesses will voice out their message during the start of the Great Tribulation, isn’t it logical for God to gather the 144,000 Jews today which is the days before the Tribulation? Imagine if God will only start gathering the Jews during the Tribulation period, there will be not enough time for the Two Witnesses to preach their Message since they will only have 3 and a half years for their ministry. That’s why the right time for our Lord to gather the 144,000 Jews in Israel is no other than TODAY.

So on whose side are you on? Are you on the side of God who wants to gather His people today and who will bring judgement for those who are dividing His land or are you on the side of those ministers today and of the world who told us not to stand with Israel and who pressure Israel to give up their land in the name of false peace? Take your pick.

These ministers are also telling us that standing or not standing with Israel should not be preached in the Church or should not be emphasized in the Church because for them, it is just a personal choice just like choosing what color of T-shirt to wear or choosing a politician to vote and that this should never to be taken seriously by Christians. Well, these are only the reasoning of ministers who sees this as political and who cannot see that this is Spiritual.

Yes, any Christians can actually choose to stand or not stand with Israel in this conflict of settling in their land. We are always free to choose. But why do we preach that we should stand them? Why do I encourage that Christians SHOULD support and stand with Israel in settling in their land? Simply because, that’s what the Bible is telling us. And we should preach based on what the Bible is saying, not based on our opinions. They are telling us that it is our choice to stand or not to stand with Israel but they are also telling us that you are actually wrong if you are standing with Israel today. They are even advocating that we should not stand with Israel today which is a complete contradiction of the “choice” they are telling.

These ministers are also good at extremizing everything. If you say that you are standing with Israel in its advocacy for the Jews to return to their land, they will accuse you of standing with Israel in EVERYTHING THEY DO, which is obviously too far from the truth. Of course, not every decision of the Jews should be supported by Christian. BUT IN THEIR DECISION OF RETURNING AND SETTLING IN THE PROMISED LAND, YOU SHOULD DEFINITELY STAND WITH THEM.

They are really good at extremizing everything that whenever you say you stand with Israel, for them, it means you wanted to be an Israeli Soldier and kill every Palestinian in Israel which is so hilarious.

But what does “standing with Israel” mean? It means doing what Rahab (a Gentile) had done in helping Joshua conquer Jericho. Did Rahab kill someone there? And what happened to Rahab when she stands with Israel? Her name was listed in the book of the genealogy of our Lord Jesus (Matt. 1) as one of the great women in the Bible. She was chosen to be in the lineage of our Lord. She even was the mother of Boas and the great-grandmother of King David. Now, imagine if Rahab did not stand with Israel that time just like what most of the ministers today are doing who cannot see anything spiritually significant in standing with Israel today.

What does standing with Israel means? It means doing what Psalm 122:6-7 is telling us:

“Praying for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces.”

This is what standing with Israel means.

3. ISLAM DOES NOT WANT PEACE WITH THE JEWS

Let me clear out this first: Not all Muslims wanted to destroy the Jews.

There are certainly Muslims who wanted peace with Israel. There are moderate Muslims. But majority of Muslims true to their Koran does not and cannot want peace with Israel. This is because we see this in their Imam’s teachings in their Mosques and what they are teaching to children in their schools. They want Israel to be annihilated and be gone forever.

Even their own prophet Muhammad said the following in Sahih Muslim 41:6985 (related by al-Bukhari and Muslim):

“The Day of Judgement will not come about until Muslims fight the Jews, when the Jew will hide behind stones and trees. The stones and trees will say O Muslims, O Abdullah, there is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.“

Islamic leaders today are also saying the same. In a speech delivered by the Egyptian Salafi Islamic scholar Muhammad Hussein Yacoub which aired on Al-Rahma TV on January 17, 2009, as translated by MEMRI. He stated that:

“We must believe that our fighting with the Jews is eternal, and it will not end until the final battle…You must believe that we will fight, defeat, and annihilate them, until not a single Jew remains on the face of the Earth…As for you Jews – the curse of Allah upon you. The curse of Allah upon you, whose ancestors were apes and pigs.

Palestinian preacher Ibrahim Mahdi said in a sermon:

“We believe in this Hadith. We are convinced also that this Hadith heralds the spread of Islam and its rule over all the land… Oh Allah, accept our martyrs in the highest heavens… Oh Allah, show the Jews a black day… Oh Allah, annihilate the Jews and their supporters… Oh Allah, raise the flag of Jihad across the land…”

See? No matter what peace the Jews would want from the Muslims, Muslims are taught to annihilate them. We see this as the goal of those people with whom Israel has “peace talks” with. The PLO charter – the very document that is the backbone of that organization, calls for the destruction of Israel as a nation. Let’s be clear on this also: Contrary to what most of the ministers are teaching today, Israel WANTED to live in peace with its Palestinian residents. Israel DOES NOT live for the annihilation of the Palestinians or any other race that lives in their nation. Being true to this, Israel is the only country in the whole middle-east region where a person is free to be a Christian without any discrimination and persecution. Many Filipinos are actually living now in Israel. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of their Palestinian residents and the many Islamic nations that surround Israel.

In fact in 2005, Israel has given Gaza to Palestinians with the goal of attaining peace with them. But from 2006 until today, Hamas is just using Gaza to send rockets to Israel. They don’t want peace at all.

So why does Islam wants to annihilate the Jews?  It is because it is a disgrace to Islam, who are meant to make all submit to their god, to have in their very own backyard this tiny nation of Israel that they cannot able to defeat or cause to submit. It is a DISGRACE! It is a disgrace to them, to their religion and to their god Allah. It is a disgrace that given all their superior numbers and armies and machinery, still they have been defeated in all their wars against Israel such as the six-day war in 1967, in 1948-49 and 1973.

Israel is a great stumbling block for the Muslim-Palestinian communities because even though all the Arab countries surrounding Israel worshiped Allah, Jews stand as living testimonies that there is One True God. That’s why Satan hates them. That’s why Islam wanted to destroy them.

Today, it is still the same. The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu goes into negotiations that the Palestinians recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state. That is actually not too much to ask if the Palestinians actually want peace, isn’t it? But no recognition is given. Palestinians don’t want two states living side by side. As of this moment, there is a lot of pressure on Israel and the Palestinians to agree to a two-state solution. There is a lot of pressure on Israel to give up land for “peace” in return. Not to mention the number of returning Jews to Israel coming from every nation is increasing especially during this pandemic. This is only going to increase early next year. But just like what I have said, the Lord doesn’t want His land to be divided for He had given it to the descendants of Abraham as their inheritance.

A SPIRITUAL BATTLE

So those are the three reasons why Christians should support the return of Jews to Israel.

Again, we have to remember that behind these all, there are spiritual forces at work. Forces that do not want Israel as a nation to survive. They hate God and hate His people. Every time Israel has given up ‘land for peace’ they have got nothing but further attacks in return. This is a Spiritual conflict. You are blind if you can only see this as political.

Some ministers today are doing everything they can to present to us that the conflict of the Jews settling in Israel is only political and never spiritual. They are telling us in their Facebook posts that if you are standing with Israel today, you are only standing with Israel’s politicians. They wanted us to believe that this issue of the Jews returning to Israel and possessing their Land is only the schemes of Israel’s political leaders and never the works of God.

By these, they are also telling us that there are no true children of Israel who wanted to possess their land. They are telling us that we should not stand with Israel today because there is nothing good in Israel today. They wanted us to believe that God is not working among the Jews today. That the Jews settling in their land is never a work of God. That these are only all POLITICS.

Any unsuspecting believers who will believe them will not see these as spiritual and will actually hate the Jews for this. But these ministers forgot that they cannot fool all believers. They forgot that some of us have eagle eyes who can see the bigger picture and has the bird’s eye view of what really is happening in Israel.

These ministers who are seeing these as only political are also telling us these foolish assumptions:

1. God cannot work with Israel today because the Gentile age is not yet finished.

2. No Jews in Israel can be saved right now because the Gospel is still with the Gentiles and not with the Jews.

3. Because God is not working in Israel right now, it is not God that works for Israel to become a nation in 1948.

4. All the blessings that the land of Israel hath receive since the rejection of the Messiah is not from God because God is not with them right now.

5. They don’t want you to pray for Israel because it means standing with Israel and God is not with Israel right now, that’s why if you are praying for Israel right now, you are only standing with their Politics.

Can you see how absurd they have become? These people are confused. How did they come into this? Because these ministers are also “Hyper-Dispensationalist”. What is a hyper-dispensationalist? They are the people who believe that a different period of Grace was given to the Jews and a different period of Grace is given to the Gentiles. They have divided the one dispensation of Grace into two. They believe that no Jew today can be saved because Grace is still with the Gentiles. They believe that God cannot work for the Jews today because He is still dealing with the Gentiles. They even believe that the Apostle Paul was only sent to the Gentiles and not to the Jews even though the Bible is telling otherwise. Some are even telling us that there are two Gospels, one for the Jews and one for the Gentiles. That’s why for them, praying for Israel right now is pointless because God is not with the Jews. This is the danger of hyper-dispensationalism. I will deal with this in my next article.

CONCLUSION

Yes, Israel is not a perfect country. Just like yours and mine are not perfect too. They have their flaws. The Jews are not perfect people also, just like you and me are not perfect also. But are these enough reasons not to pray for them?

We must remember that in general, JEWS ARE STILL AND WILL ALWAYS BE GOD’S PEOPLE. They are the seeds of God. And being a child of God cannot be taken away.

Yes they killed their own Messiah. But that’s because God blinded them so that we (Gentiles) will be saved. And that’s why we read:

Rom 11:26 “And so all Israel will be saved; just as it is written, “THE DELIVERER WILL COME FROM ZION, HE WILL REMOVE UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB.”

Rom 11:27 “THIS IS MY COVENANT WITH THEM, WHEN I TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS.”

Rom 11:28 “From the standpoint of the gospel they are enemies for your sake, but from the standpoint of God’s choice they are beloved for the sake of the fathers;”

Rom 11:29 “For the gifts and the calling of God are without repentance.”

No matter what the views of men today, at the end of the day, the Word of God will still stand. THEY ARE GOD’S PEOPLE AND GOD WILL SAVE THEM because the gifts and callings of God are without repentance. They are still God’s Children. Someday, all their ungodliness will be removed.

If our Lord cannot fulfill this promise to save the Jews, then there’s actually no reason for us to believe that He can fulfill His promises to us, the Gentiles.

Let me state here also some truths:

1. THE JEWS WILL COMPLETELY POSSESS THE LAND. If you think that their move of possessing the land today is wrong, I tell you my friend, you are wrong on this. For it is the will of God for them to possess it. They will own it completely. So whether you like them or not, they will win this war. The Bible testifies on this.

2. JEWS ARE ETERNAL PEOPLE. Although many have attempted to annihilate them, they are still here, because they will live in eternity. In fact, they will be the ones to repopulate the Earth along with the selected Sheep from other nations during the Millennial Reign of Christ. They will not be annihilated during the Great Tribulation. There is a danger for Filipinos, Americans, Chinese or Russians not to be included in the repopulation of the Earth. But NOT the Jews. Their race is SURE to remain in the face of the Earth FOREVER.

3. Give all the powerful Kingdoms of the world against the Jews, and the Jews will still remain. Where is the Great Kingdom of Babylon now who is the wealthiest of all the Kingdoms that captured Israel? They are gone and were forgotten. But the Jews are still here. Where are the Persian Kingdom, the Assyrian, the Greeks and the Roman Kingdoms that captured Israel? They are all gone but the nation Israel is still here. Why is this? Because the One Who is fighting for Israel is the Creator Himself of Heaven and Earth. This is why, they will still remain. Jews are actually the PROOF that God exists. Because until now, He is still fulfilling His promise to Abraham. The children of Abraham are still here.

Now, if you are on your right mind, stand with the One that can never be defeated. If you should stand today, choose to stand with God. Choose to stand with His people. Choose to stand with His Word. Because at the end of the day, It will never fail.

May the Lord will continue to reveal to us His truth is my prayer.
