What Will You Ask?

1 Kings 3:5 “In Gibeon the LORD appeared to Solomon in a dream by night: and God said, Ask what I shall give thee.”

In this verse, God asked king Solomon “Ask for whatever you want me to give you.” King Solomon wanted wisdom to effectively judge Israel and to discern between bad and good (1 Kings 3:9).

Now, if it was you what would you ask the Lord? What would you like? Maybe 3 more wishes? Or more than likely, that the sick would like to be well, the single may want to have a partner, the poor might want to be better off in life. Perhaps to be the most powerful or to be the richest in the world? If God came to you and was willing to give you whatever you ask for, would you ask for something spiritual or something material? Tough question, but if we are honest with ourselves, many of us would likely ask for something material. That is what makes Solomon’s response all the more remarkable.
