Spiritual Burnout

Luke 10:41 “And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things.”

Many Christians are like Martha. They prefer to serve the Lord through their flesh. They are dedicated Christians but they are still serving the Lord through their own human efforts. Like Martha, because they are still working in their own strength and will, they remain worried and upset about many things. And of course, this kind of service drains them of spiritual energy.

This may of course be a picture of you. I am talking about Sunday school teachers, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Pastors and Teachers in the pulpit. I am talking about many ordinary, average, earnest Christians. They are not hypocrites. But they are tired – desperately tired! But when you meet them, they will smile sweetly and mean it. They are true devoted Christians who try to go on in their work for the Lord, yet they are tired.

If you are like this, then it is time to let God work for you and not you who work for God. If there is one thing that our Lord greatly desire from us, it is to let Him do the work in us. With this, we can never be spiritually burnout.
