John 1:4 “In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
Our Light is the Life of our Lord Jesus Christ. The light we have depends upon His life living through us. Since the beginning of creation, God has given us a daily picture of this. He created the Sun to govern the day, and the moon he created to rule the night. The moon (a picture of us, the Church) has no light of its own. It receives its light from the sun (that pictures our Lord), and how much the moon will shine is a reflection of how much of it has been exposed to the Sun.
But we must remember that eclipses do occur when things get in the way. The Earth can get between the Sun and the Moon so that no light can shine on the Moon (Lunar Eclipse). This is when worldliness (Earth) gets in between the Church and the Lord Jesus Christ. Or the Moon can get in between the Sun and the Earth blocking out the light of the Sun (Solar Eclipse). This is when the church preaches itself and not the Lord Jesus as the answer, blocking His Light and Life to Earth.
