Acts 1:6-7 “When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.”
No one will know the time and season of the Lord’s return. THE BIBLE IS CLEAR ON THIS. But many ministers today are doing the exact opposite. They are giving dates and estimates and are proclaiming that this could be the times and season of the Lord’s return. And because of these estimates, many believers are being deceived because none of these given dates about the Lord’s return were true.
I remember a man named William Miller and he said that the Lord was returning October 22nd, 1844. And he had really convinced people! He had looked at some prophecies in Daniel and said “On October 22nd 1844, the Lord will return” and he had thousands of followers and they started leaving their jobs, started selling things to people who they thought possibly were not going to make it. Some of them even dressed up in white robes and were on the roof tops of their houses in America. And October 22nd came and went and it is known in history, especially American history, as the “Great Disappointment” because they were just devastated. And because of this great disappointment, people were really devastated and had lost hope on the Lord’s return because the so-called “Ministers God” today are giving them lots of inaccurate dates leading to false hope.
This is the danger of calculating and estimating the Lord’s return which according to the Bible, no one can know. I hope you are not one of those ministers. I hope you are not one of those giving false hope. Instead, I hope in spite of the rampant false hope today, you are one of the reason why believers still believes on the sureness of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
