SEVEN KEYS TO GROW YOUR FAITH

Our faith grows as we walk with God. It’s not something that just happens once and stays the same forever. Like muscles, faith grows stronger the more we use it. God wants us to grow in faith every day, not just when things are going well—but especially when they’re not. If you’ve ever asked, “How can I have stronger faith?” these seven keys can help guide you.

Sometimes life gets hard—and that’s not by accident. The Bible actually encourages us to be joyful even when we go through struggles. James 1:2-4 says:

“Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,
because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

And 1 Peter 1:6-7 reminds us:

“Though now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials…
these have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold…
may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.”

These hard times aren’t punishment—they’re preparation. They burn away what’s holding us back and reveal our true trust in God. Like gold being refined in fire, your faith becomes clearer and stronger through each challenge.

Romans 10:17 tells us:

“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

It’s not just about physically hearing a sermon. It’s about letting God’s Word sink in and shape how you think, act, and believe. When you hear about healing, your faith grows in that area. When you hear about peace, your trust in God’s peace increases. Keep feeding yourself God’s Word like it’s your daily bread—because it truly is.

Jesus said in Matthew 4:4:

“Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”

Just like your body needs food, your spirit needs God’s Word. When you take time to read the Bible, listen to teaching, and apply what you learn, your spirit gets stronger—and so does your faith.

Growing in faith isn’t just about knowing the right things—it’s about living them out.

Jude 1:20-22 says:

“But ye, beloved, building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life. And of some have compassion, making a difference.”

When you’re around others who also believe and trust in God, it rubs off on you. Think of how in Matthew 8:8, the Roman officer’s faith was so strong, Jesus healed his servant just because of it. Being in community helps us share and grow our faith. We were never meant to walk alone.

Jesus encouraged us in Matthew 7:7-8:

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”

It’s okay to admit when you don’t understand something. God isn’t afraid of your questions. In fact, He welcomes them. Seek wisdom from teachers and ministers who explain the Word clearly. When your understanding grows, so will your confidence in God’s promises.

Hebrews 10:22 encourages us:

“Let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings,
having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience.”

Guilt and unforgiveness weigh us down and block our faith. If your conscience isn’t clear—whether because of sin, shame, or bitterness—it’s hard to fully trust God. Come clean before Him. He’s ready to forgive. And when you let go of guilt, your faith will flow freely again.

Finally, 2 Corinthians 5:7 reminds us:

“We walk by faith, not by sight.”

Faith isn’t just something you think—it’s something you do. James 2:17 says:

“Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.”

When Peter walked on water in Matthew 14:22-33, he did something bold because he believed Jesus. But the moment he looked at the wind and waves, he started to sink. That’s what happens when we stop trusting and start fearing. Keep your eyes on Jesus, and step out even when it feels scary.

Growing your faith won’t happen overnight, but it will happen if you lean in. Go through trials knowing God’s working something good. Fill yourself with His Word. Surround yourself with faith-filled people. Ask questions, clear your conscience, and take steps of trust—even if they’re small.

Faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does.
