1 Tim. 6:6 “But godliness with contentment is great gain.”
Many believers today are contented with what they have spiritually, but are never contented with what they have materially. When you ask them about their spiritual status, they will tell you “I don’t need anything anymore. I am a believer, I am saved.” But if asked about their material status, they will tell you that they want more. They are praying for more material blessings. They are like the Laodicean Church who wanted many material things but are spiritually poor, blind, wretch and naked (Rev. 3:17).
Beloved of the Lord Jesus Christ, we must be contented with material things BUT MUST NOT BE CONTENTED WITH SPIRITUAL THINGS. It should not be the other way around. Our Lord Jesus Christ has “unsearchable spiritual riches” that cannot be exhausted by us (Eph. 3:8). Aim for them! One day, this material world will be ours and all that are on it. But for now, you need to seek the Kingdom of God (spiritual things), and all these things will be added unto you (Mat. 6:33).
