Gen 41:39-40 Then Pharaoh said to Joseph, “Since God has made all this known to you, there is no one so discerning and wise as you. You shall be in charge of my palace, and all my people are to submit to your orders. Only with respect to the throne will I be greater than you.”
We all know that Joseph is a gifted man. God has given him the gift of interpretation of dreams. But God isn’t after our gift. Those gifts came from Him. He is after our character. The Lord wanted Joseph to be a leader of Egypt one day for His plan to be fulfilled. But first, He needs to mold Joseph’s character in order to be a great leader. And this includes suffering in prison for that character to come out.
Perhaps today, God is still developing our character so that we will be better to where He will put us when the time comes. Gifts and talents may be impressive and immediate, but character is what God looks for and always takes time to develop.
