Rev. 21:4 “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
One song that comes to mind about tears is the song that Eric Clapton wrote called “Tears in Heaven”. It was written after Clapton’s four-year-old son Conor fell to his death from a 53rd-floor window of a New York city apartment. You can only imagine the grief and heartbreak this caused. Clapton’s song begins with:
“Would you know my name? If I saw you in heaven,
Would it be the same? If I saw you in heaven”
But amongst the great sadness of the song there is this beacon of light and hope at the end where he writes:
“Beyond the door, There’s peace, I’m sure.
And I know there’ll be no more, Tears in heaven.”
According to the verse above, tears, death, mourning and pain are old order of things. They will end. They seem to be permanent now but that is only an illusion. They are limited to the present reality and are definitely not in the long term plan of God. They will be gone, forever, and will never return. Praised be the Name of the Lord!
