2 King 4:6 “When all the jars were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another one.” But he replied, “There is not a jar left.” Then the oil stopped flowing.”
The verse above is a story of a widow who is in great need of help for creditors are threatening her that they will get her two sons if she cannot pay their debt. The prophet Elisha instructed her to gather as many empty vessels as she can. Then the Lord made oil to flow to those empty vessels. It was only when there is no more jar left that the oil stopped flowing.
What we can learn from this story is that, the oil here symbolizes the Holy Spirit. The question is never about the amount of oil that will flow, but of the empty vessels. The Spirit of God will always continue to flow as long as there are empty vessels available. God cannot be emptied of Truth, Life and Revelation. They will always flow from Him. We need to take note also that the oil only multiplies when it is poured and that there are vessels available too receive it. God’s oil will never be exhausted so long as we can receive and impart. It is never a question of how much God can give His revelations to us, but how much we can receive them.
