The first Sparrow asked the second, “I should really like to know
Why these anxious human beings, rush and worry so!”
The Second said to the first, “Friend, I think that it must be
That they forget to trust our Father, Who cares for you and me!”
Asked the third sparrow to the fourth, “So why they fret each day?
They’re rushing, anxious, worried, don’t they have God to pray?”
The fourth sparrow answered, “Perhaps they’ve lost their sight.
They doubt the Father’s goodness, Who cares both day and night.”
Then the fifth sparrow listening, to the conversation of them,
And spoke to them his story, of how the Father loves him
“Humans often are forgetful, losing sight of love they know,
But the Lord doesn’t forget me—He’s the God of the fifth sparrow.”
Two sparrows for a farthing, four sparrows should cost two,
Yet Scripture speaks a mystery, revealing something true
With your two small farthings, five sparrows you will receive
The fifth one seen as worthless, an extra to perceive
But the Bible gently tells us, though worthless as it seem,
The Lord looks for the sparrow, He cares for all of them.
He feeds them and protects them, they don’t care for tomorrow,
Yet how much more to us, more valuable than the sparrow!
Thus the fifth sparrow symbolizes, those small things we overlook,
Tiny moments we forget, to trust within His book.
He is the God of the fifth sparrow, those little things in our ends,
He is the God of the universe, yet those little things He attends.
But why oh why, we forget Him to trust in the small,
We trust Him on the big things, but forget Him on the little.
We trust Him that He saved us, but fail to trust Him with our breakfast,
We trust Him for great miracles, but are often blind for smalls.
Remember He controls everything, each detail He commands,
Even the heaven and earth, all formed by His hands.
He planned for your life, your family He ordained,
He authored your salvation, your soul He reclaimed.
Do you think He cannot feed you, with the daily bread you need?
Do you think He can’t shelter you, with a roof above your head?
Do you think He can’t shield you from the storms you must withstand?
He is the God of the fifth sparrow, remember this first hand
The God Who carved the mountains, is the God Who made the Lilies,
The God Who commands the galaxies, is the God Who controls the bees
The God Who paints the vibrant sky, is the God Who paints the rose,
The God Who made the Highs, is also the God of lows
A sparrow’s life seems tiny, insignificant and very small,
Yet the Lord attends to them, and watches for them all.
The God who rules the universe, each galaxy and each star,
Is the God Who cares for the sparrows, and knows exactly where they are.
The God of the fifth sparrow, wants to remind us all today,
He sees the smallest moments, guiding us all the way.
He meets our daily needs, from greatest to the least,
Trust him every moment and you’ll find you’ll be at ease
