Rev 16:15 “Behold, I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake and keeps his clothes, so that he will not walk about naked and men will not see his shame.”
For a thief in the night, compare the following scriptures: Mat 24:43; Luk 12:39; 1Th 5:2, 1Th 5:4; 2Pe 3:10. The Lord Jesus’ coming is like a thief in that it is unexpected that’s why the emphasis is on being found watchful and ready. We don’t know the day of His coming be we should be alert to the season and the day in which we live. We must not be like the Jewish priests who were found sleeping their clothes would be removed and burnt and they would have to return home naked and ashamed!
All true believers are priests unto God today (1 Peter 2:5-9, Rev 1:6). So to be watchful priests, is to keep watch over your own life but also, as God position you, over His Church.
