1 Sam. 30:3 “So David and his men came to the city, and, behold, it was burned with fire; and their wives, and their sons, and their daughters, were taken captives.”

Have you been in this situation before? Where you have been faithfully serving the Lord, you are one of His best and faithful soldier. You have not done anything wrong, you have not sinned against Him but still, the odds are not with you and everything around you seems to fall out of place? You have been fired in your work, your business goes to bankruptcy, your health dwindled in spite of healthy leaving, your own family persecutes you even if you have not done anything wrong! If you have been here, then you know this very situation that David had experienced in the verse above!

These are the kinds of situations where our Lord wants to show you how great He is! He wanted to remind you that despite of this seemingly uncontrollable situations, still, He is the God in control of everything. You need to be very thankful in them because these situations are used by the Lord in order for us to grow! Each time you are facing an uncomfortable situation, that’s the sign that our Lord is encouraging you to grow. Without those discomforts, you will stay small, you will not grow, you will not come out of your comfort zone. And because David encouraged himself in the Lord his God (1 Sam. 30:6), we can read:

1 Sam. 30:18 “And David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away: and David rescued his two wives.”
