Mat. 24:3-5 “And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”
The first sign that the coming of the Lord is drawing near is the rise of false prophets and false teachers to deceive many. And it is now happening in our days. Deception is rampant that the gospel of grace has become the gospel of greed. All we can hear in the preaching of the so-called tele-evangelist today is nothing but MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. As someone has said “You know you’re in trouble when the so-called shepherds start speaking well of the wolf!”
But we are not in the dark. These false teachers may think that they can say what they want, live like they want, and disgrace Christianity as much as they want, but they cannot deceive us for we are the children of light. We know the Truth for we focus on the Truth. Just like how the FBI train their agents to spot counterfeit money, they get them to focus primarily on the real thing, not the counterfeits. When the agent is completely familiar with the real notes, it is a lot easier for them to spot the counterfeits. The same is true with us. You don’t have to be an expert in all the cults. You just have to focus on the Truth and you will be able to spot the false teachings a lot easier.
