Zec. 4:6 “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD.”
For a background of this verse, after the Jewish people experienced exile in Babylon, King Cyrus of Persia allowed 50,000 of them to return to Jerusalem and rebuild the temple under Zerubbabel, governor of Jerusalem. At the time, Zechariah, a prophet and priest of Israel, received several visions from the Lord. In one of those visions, God delivered this key message regarding the building of the temple: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the LORD of hosts” (Zec. 4:6).
As the physical temple, so is the Spiritual Temple. We are the the Temple of God. And God will only build His Temple not by might, nor by power, but only through His Spirit. This Temple of God (us, the Church), is guaranteed to be finished. We are guaranteed to grow, to be strong. We are guaranteed to be perfect (Eph. 4:13). Only by His Spirit. Praise be the Name of the Lord!
