Rev 2:20 “Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols.”
In the verse above, the Church of Thyatira was rebuked by the Lord Jesus for tolerating the woman Jezebel. We must remember that God is love. We must always treat our brothers and sisters with self-sacrificing acts just like our Lord sacrificed His self for us. This is what true love (agape) is. But we must also remember that God is truth. He has eyes of blazing fire ready to rebuke us if we tolerate errors.
Truth and love must always go hand in hand. To separate them leads to not having both of them. The Church of Ephesus lost its first love while maintaining truth. And this Church of Thyatira lost the truth while maintaining love. Both churches were rebuked and corrected for both qualities are required. I know this is not an easy road to navigate. But as we grow into maturity, we need to learn how to speak the truth in love (Eph. 4:15). That is, those who speak the truth must speak it in a manner that is self-sacrificing. While those who speak love must speak it in a manner without compromising the truth.
