The Danger of Hatred

Hate is a terrible thing. I recently watched an interview with Bible prophecy teacher Chad Thomas. Chad literally had threats on his life because he was teaching a pre-tribulation rapture of the church. He was sent emails and messages saying that he had no love for the congregation because most people in their church believed otherwise. Chad says that he was told that he was deceiving people, was a false prophet and didn’t love his congregation. It went so bad that it led for some believers in his congregation to hate him and for Chad’s YouTube channel being taken down. It was even fueled by post-tribulation believers. Unbelievable yet true!

This is what happens when Christians, instead of tackling the truth and concentrating on the Bible topic being discussed, will personally attack a person and tell that that person has no love for the believers when he shares the opposite of what they believe. Satan will then fuel this leading you to hate your brother. This is what happened to Joseph in the verse above. God showed him a dream and he told this to his family. But his brothers told him that he was so boastful and he is only exalting himself above them.

We should learn how to concentrate on the issue so that the truth will be exalted instead of posting some personal attack on facebook telling others that that brother has no love. This is the tactic of Satan for us to hate each other. Actually, it is not the tackling of truth that divide us, it is when we take our focus on it and personally attack the person instead of concentrating on the issue.

So what should we do when we experience this? The only answer I know is the one that got Joseph through all those years – when His own brothers hated him when he told him his dreams. The solution is to find your identity and acceptance in Christ. That even though we disagree with some doctrines today, Christ is still for you, and He will NEVER leave you nor forsake you!
