Exodus 26:31 “And thou shalt make a veil of blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine twined linen of cunning work: with cherubims shall it be made.”
In Exodus 26:31-33, the Lord commanded Moses to make a thick veil that separated the Holy Place from the Holy of Holies (where the presence of God is) with images of Cherubims (angels) on it. You can also see this veil with Cherubims in the Temple of Solomon which is patterned after the Tabernacle (2 Chro. 3:14).
Going back in the Garden of Eden, after Adam and Eve sinned, God placed Cherubims with flaming swords to guard the way to the Tree of Life, preventing man from entering. This tells us that the Tree of Life in the midst of the Garden of Eden is actually the presence or the Spirit of God Himself, as symbolized by the Holy of Holies. Both are guarded by the Cherubims. One cannot access God without passing the Cherubims. This means that no man can come to God.
When the Lord Jesus died, this temple Veil was torn from top to bottom (Mat. 27:51). The barrier placed in Genesis 3 that guards the Tree of Life was removed through the death of the Lord. The Cherubims were forced to stand aside. By tearing the Veil, God declared that the way to the Tree of Life (the Lord Jesus) was open to humanity once again. Man can now access God once again. Eternal Life is now available.
