Eph 2:13-14 “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away have been brought near through the blood of Christ. For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility.”
In this world, there are many walls that divide us. Duirng the Lord’s earthly ministry, the Jews looked upon the rest of the world as Gentiles. Anyone not a Jew is a Gentile in the eyes of the Jewish people. The Greeks did the same. There were the Greeks, the “civilized” people, and all the rest were “barbarians.” They based that word on the verb “barbar” which means “to stammer.” Anyone who didn’t speak Greek, the civilized language, sounded to the Greeks like a stuttering child. When the Romans took over the Greek civilization, they adopted the same terminology. Everyone within the Roman Empire was Roman; all others were “barbarians.” The Chinese did the same thing. China is derived from their word for “middle,” for they saw themselves as the center of the earth, the Middle Kingdom. Everyone else lived out on the periphery of the earth.”
Today, believers and ministers are also dividing the Church of the Lord by inventing the terminologies “Jewish Church” and “Gentile Church” of which cannot be found in the Bible. The Truth is, according to the verses above, one of the accomplishments of the Lord Jesus on the cross is by breaking these dividing walls. There are already no more Jews nor Gentile in the Body of Christ for He has made us one. Why did He do this? Because He wanted to end the hostility and make the two (Jew and Gentile) into ONE NEW MAN! He came and brought in a NEW covenant based on NEW promises by which we all could become NEW creations. And together, male, female, slave, free, Jew, Gentile, black, white… all of us, could be together as equals in this new living organism that we call… the Church!
