This message is centered on one of the most profound and awe-inspiring events in Bible prophecy: The Marriage of the Lamb. This is the marriage of our Lord Jesus Christ and His Bride. This is not just the marriage of the year nor the marriage of the century, but the marriage of eternity! This marriage will make the whole of Heaven happiest the most. It represents the fulfillment of God’s plan for His people, where the Bride of Christ is joined together in Him in everlasting glory. This event is the climax of the Bible. This is the climax of our story. Indeed, such a very long time in the making. The Bride, also known as the Queen, is none other than the Church, the body of believers redeemed by Christ’s sacrifice.
The Bride Appears in Glory
The anticipation of this union is echoed throughout the Scriptures. In Colossians 3:2-4, Paul writes that “when Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.“ This appearance of Christ will not only reveal Christ but also His Bride. When Christ is revealed, we will also be revealed. During Christ’s return, His Church—His Bride—will also share in His glory, reflecting His righteousness and beauty before all creation.
The Four Hallelujahs: A Heavenly Celebration
Revelation 19:1-7
1And after these things I heard a great voice of much people in heaven, saying, Alleluia; Salvation, and glory, and honour, and power, unto the Lord our God:
2For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, which did corrupt the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand.
3And again they said, Alleluia. And her smoke rose up for ever and ever.
4And the four and twenty elders and the four beasts fell down and worshipped God that sat on the throne, saying, Amen; Alleluia.
5And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all ye his servants, and ye that fear him, both small and great.
6And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.
7Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready.
In Revelation 19:1-7, we witness a scene of immense joy and celebration in heaven. This passage is unique because it contains the word “Hallelujah,” a Hebrew word meaning “Praise God,” which you cannot read in the other books of the Bible and can only be seen in Revelation 19. In this event, the joy in heaven is explosive, for the final enemy, Babylon—the symbol of wickedness and rebellion against God—has been defeated. The four “Hallelujahs” in this chapter mark heaven’s resounding praise for God’s justice and triumph over evil.
First Hallelujah (v.1 and 2): “Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are His judgments.” The saints rejoice because God’s judgment has come upon Babylon, representing the world’s corrupt systems.
Second Hallelujah (v.3): “Her smoke rises up forever and ever.” This praise arises from the destruction of Babylon whose remains became only a smoke. This is a final victory over sin and evil that has plagued humanity and the world for so long.
Third Hallelujah (v.4): The 24 elders and the four living creatures fall down and worship God, celebrating His reign and dominion over all.
Fourth Hallelujah (v.6): The ultimate rejoicing is heard as the announcement is made—the time has come for the marriage of the Lamb, and His Bride has made herself ready.
This is the grand climax of the Church’s journey—the marriage of the Lamb, when the Church is united with Christ in an eternal bond of love and righteousness. The Heaven’s highest joy, more than anything else, is tied to this divine union.
The Defeat of Babylon: An End to Injustice
Much of the rejoicing in heaven stems from the fact that Babylon—the embodiment of human pride, rebellion, and injustice—has finally been destroyed. The people of God have long questioned why the wicked prosper in this world, as seen in Jeremiah 12:1, Psalm 73:12-13, and Malachi 3:15. The fall of Babylon signifies the end of these questions. There will be no more injustice, no more oppression, for God has judged righteously.
In Malachi 3:17-18, we see God promising to distinguish between the righteous and the wicked. His judgment is fair, and His justice prevails. We are reminded that vengeance belongs to God alone, as Paul writes in Romans 12:17-21 and Joseph’s declaration in Genesis 50:19, “Am I in the place of God?” We are called to trust in God’s justice and refrain from taking vengeance into our own hands because one day, God will surely judge everything and will bring justice to everything.
The Bride Prepares Herself
While heaven rejoices, there is something special about the Bride’s preparation. Revelation 19:8 tells us that “fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” The wedding dress of the Bride here is very unique. This fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints. The Bride’s garments are woven from the righteousness of those who belong to Christ, who have been cleansed by His blood. These garments are not static—they grow as we walk in faith, and we are called to regularly add to them through our obedience and devotion.
As Ephesians 5:25-27 reminds us, the Church is sanctified and cleansed through the washing of the Word, so that she may be presented to Christ, holy and without blemish. This preparation is ongoing, requiring constant surrender to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives.
The King’s Delight in His Bride
On that day, the beauty of the Bride will be beyond description. In Psalm 45:9-11, we see Christ enthralled by the beauty of His Queen. She is told to forget her people and her father’s house, symbolic of her complete devotion to her new life with her King. This parallels the Church’s call to leave behind the old life and embrace her new identity in Christ.
In Psalm 45:12-15, we witness the nations bringing gifts to the King and His Bride during the Messianic Kingdom. The Bride rules alongside her King, and the nations come to behold their glory. This points to the time when the Church, as the Bride of Christ, will reign with Him in His Kingdom.
All Creation Awaits This Day
This is not only the Church’s hope, but the hope of all creation. In Romans 8:19, Paul writes that “the whole creation waits in eager expectation for the manifestation of the sons of God.” The marriage of the Lamb is the moment all of creation has been waiting for—the day when the sons and daughters of God are fully manifested in their glory, united with Christ for eternity.
The Marriage of Eternity
This marriage is not just an event but the ultimate fulfillment of God’s plan for His people. It is the culmination of a long journey, where the Bride is presented in splendor, free from the corruption and injustice of the world.
The Bride, adorned in righteousness, will reign with her King. Her beauty will reflect the glory of Christ, and all of heaven and earth will witness the culmination of God’s love story with His people.
Conclusion: The Queen Awaits Her King
As the Bride of Christ, we are called to prepare ourselves for this glorious day. We are called to live in righteousness, to forsake the world, and to embrace our identity in Christ. Just as the Queen is enthralled by the King, we too must fix our eyes on our Lord Jesus – the author and finisher of our faith. We await the day when we shall be united with Him in glory, and together, we will reign in His Kingdom forever. Let us therefore rejoice for the Marriage of the Lamb has come, and His Bride has made herself ready. Hail to the Queen!
