Your Word struck me on that hour
My first love sudden and so sweet.
Your Word bloomed like a sweet flower
And stole my heart away complete.
It’s wonderful, my face turned pale.
My legs refused to walk away,
And when I know it could not fail
My life seemed turned to clay.
My blood then rushed into my face
And took my eyesight quite away.
The trees and bushes ‘round that place
Seemed midnight at noon that day.
I could not see a single thing,
Words from my lips did not start.
They spoke as chords from guitar strings,
And blood burnt round into my heart.
You’re a flower in winter’s choice
More than a dove in a winter snow
And seemed You heard my silent voice
And reveal to me that I may know.
I never know so sweet a Savior
I never felt this way before.
That time my prayer on that hour
Is to know You even more!
