A girl surrounded by apples.
Psa. 34:8 “O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trust in him.”
Let’s say you have a big fat juicy apple on the table. You could stare at it as long as you want and admire its beauty as long as you want. You could also tell all your friends that you’ve got one mighty fine juicy apple! You feel it, you sniff it as long as you want. But you can’t really find out how good it is if you will never take a bite on it.
David is telling us in the verse above that to taste God is very essential. We need to taste the Lord so that we can experience His goodness. Yes, it is important to hear the word and learn about the character of God, but rest assured that God wanted you to put into practice what you have learned from His word! God must have a reality within His people. And I must warn you also that this “tasting” of the Lord only comes through “bitter” experiences. But the bitterness is nothing compared to His goodness. So take that big bite of Him and taste Him!
