Serving Two Masters

Mat. 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and money.”

A minister and his 10-year old child was walking in their garden when the child said to his father: “When I grow up, I want to be a minister like you. I want to devout my life living the Word of God and share it to others so that great will be my reward in the after-life. But I also want to be the richest person in the world so that I can also have a great life here on Earth. With this, I can have a great life both is this world and in the life to come.”

The minister smiled and said to his son: “If a man goes into a field and starts running after two foxes at the same time, there will come a moment when the foxes will go their separate ways, and the man will be left not knowing which one to pursue. While he is pondering the problem, the foxes will be far away and he will have wasted both his time and his energy.” Then minister bend his knees to level with his son and said “My son, you cannot serve both God and money. For these two are contrary to one another. You will love one and despise the other. Choose only one and decide wisely to whom you will spend your short life here on earth. As for me, I chose to serve the Lord.”
