Revelation 19:11-20
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.
12 His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.
13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
14 And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.
15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.
16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
17 And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God;
18 That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great.
19 And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.
20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
The cosmic battle between Heaven and Earth is not a mere story of good versus evil but a spiritual war to whom Earth will belong to. Right now, Earth belongs to Satan. But Scripture reveals that God’s divine plan, from the beginning, involves reclaiming the Earth for His Kingdom through His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. This war is not just fought in the heavens but will culminate in a visible confrontation when Christ returns to claim what is rightfully His. This is the battle for Earth, where Heaven’s forces, led by the Son of David, the Lord Jesus Christ, will finally conquer and establish an everlasting Kingdom.
Verse 11: The Son of David Ministry
Rev. 14:11 “And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.”
The “Son of David” ministry is a reference to Christ’s role as the promised King in the lineage of David, the one destined to reign on Earth. When the Lord Jesus was on Earth, He was despised, rejected, and crucified by those He came to save. However, in His second coming, the story changes. Those who stood by Him through persecution and suffering, those who held to His truth despite the world’s rejection, will reign with Him in His Kingdom.
Mat. 24:29-30 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken. And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.”
Matthew 24:29-30 points to this moment of triumph. The Son of Man will appear in the clouds, signifying the end of the Great Tribulation and the start of the “Day of the Lord,” a day when Christ will come not as a suffering servant but as a triumphant King. The white horse in this verse represents His victory, power, and purity. He comes as a warrior to claim the Earth, not as the humble carpenter but as the King and Judge who will restore order.
The Lord Jesus is described as “Faithful and True” in this because He has never contradicted His Word. His promises are sure, and just as He fulfilled the prophecies of His first coming, He will surely fulfill those of His second coming. As the embodiment of truth, His judgment is just and final. The battle for the Earth is not uncertain; it is already won, sealed by His authority and righteousness.
Verse 12: The Crowns of Victory
Rev. 19:12 “His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.”
In His return, the Lord Jesus wears many crowns, a symbol of His absolute sovereignty over all nations and kingdoms. These crowns reflect His authority to judge and wage war. The blazing fire in His eyes signifies His righteous wrath and divine judgment, for He is now not just a servant but the King who has come to reclaim His Kingdom.
The crowns also represent the work of His saints, the fruit of their labors in His name. Every reward and crown we receive as believers is ultimately from Him, for it was His work through us. His new name, an attribute yet to be fully revealed, will be made known when all believers are transformed into His likeness. This name signifies His supreme authority, an honor and glory that surpasses all titles and positions.
Verse 13: The Lord is the Logos
Rev. 19:13 “And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God”.
The profound truth in this verse is that Jesus is not merely carrying the Word; He is the Word. The Greek word “Logos” refers to the divine Word of God, the eternal truth that was with God in the beginning and through whom all things were created. When we receive the Word of God, we are receiving Christ Himself. There is no separation between the Lord Jesus and the Word—He is the Logos made flesh (John 1:14).
The imagery of His robe being dipped in blood reminds us of His sacrifice on the cross. It was not just a man who died for our sins; it was the Logos, the very Word of God. Some argue that the Logos is separate from the person of Jesus, but this is contrary to Scripture. Verses like Isaiah 43:11, Acts 20:28, and 1 Timothy 3:16 clearly teach that God Himself became flesh and purchased the Church with His own blood.
This same Word that was crucified for us is returning, not as the suffering Lamb, but as the conquering King, to claim those who belong to Him.
Verse 14: We Are the Lord’s Army
Rev. 19:14 “And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean.”
As believers, we are not merely spectators in this cosmic battle. We are soldiers in the army of Christ. The Queen, His Church, is also His army. Even now, while we live on Earth, we are enlisted in spiritual warfare. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us that our enemy is not flesh and blood but spiritual forces and authorities that seek to enslave and subdue humanity, preventing them from fulfilling God’s purpose.
Our role, even now, is to free those in bondage to sin, lies, and deception. Our weapon in this battle is the truth of God’s Word. The more we immerse ourselves in the truth, the stronger we become. Our victory comes not from human strength but from the absolute, unchanging Word of God.
When Christ returns, we will be part of His heavenly army, sharing in His victory. Romans 8:19-22 speaks of all creation groaning for the day when it will be freed from its bondage to decay. On that day, we, the saints, will reign with Him, bringing freedom not only to humanity but to all of creation. Even now, we are being trained as warriors, preparing for the ultimate battle to reclaim the Earth.
Verse 18-20: The Great Battle and the Ultimate Victory
Rev. 19:18-20 “That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.”
The battle between Heaven and Earth is not just a battle of armies but a battle of authorities. The kings, captains, and mighty men who rise up against God are doomed to fall. They will be defeated not by physical weapons but by the Word of God, the very weapon Christ wields. The Word that created the universe will also be the Word that judges and destroys those who oppose God’s rule.
In the end, the beastly systems of Satan, the false prophets who lead many astray, and all those who wage war against God will be cast into the lake of fire. This signifies not only their defeat but their complete and utter annihilation. The reign of evil will come to a permanent end, and Christ’s righteous rule will begin.
As the final verses declare, the Word of God has the power to create and to destroy. It was through the Word that the heavens and the Earth were made, and it is through the Word that all things will be restored. As soldiers in the Lord’s army, we hold the greatest weapon—the truth of His Word. It is through this Word that we fight today, and it is through this Word that we will share in His victory tomorrow.
Conclusion: The Saints Shall Possess the Kingdom
This battle between Heaven and Earth is not one of uncertainty. The victory has already been won through Jesus Christ. As believers, we are called to be part of this grand plan, to fight with the truth of God’s Word, and to stand firm in faith. Daniel 7:18 tells us that “the saints shall possess the Kingdom.” This is our inheritance and our destiny.
Today, we may face spiritual battles, but we fight with the confidence that the ultimate war has already been won. Jesus Christ, the Son of David, the Logos, the King of Kings, is returning to claim the Earth, and we will reign with Him. Therefore, let us be warriors of truth today, knowing that we are training for a glorious future where Heaven will finally reclaim Earth for the Kingdom of God.
