Phil 2:13 “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”
God “works in you”. Salvation in its fullness incorporates all three tenses. You have been saved, you are being saved, and you will be saved. These three aspects of salvation line up with the three parts of a person – the spirit, the soul, and the body.
Your spirit has been saved when you were born-again and this forms part of the ‘new creation’. Your body still has to wait for the resurrection at the return of Jesus during the rapture before it is made like His body. But your soul, that is your mind, will and emotions – are progressively being saved today as we work out that which He is working in! So note here how God’s ongoing work is performed. It says that He works in us both to will and to do. In other words God not only installs in us knowledge of His will, but He also strengthens us with the means to carry it out.
