Exo 19:10-11 “And the LORD said to Moses, “Go to the people and consecrate them today and tomorrow. Have them wash their clothes and be ready by the third day, because on that day the LORD will come down on Mount Sinai in the sight of all the people.”
With the Lord’s instruction, Moses told the people to wash their clothes and consecrate themselves for they were going to meet God! Think about actually meeting God for a moment. How does that make you feel? Does it have any impact on your life here and now? Speaking of the coming of the Lord, John tells us how this should impact us today (1Jn 3:2-3). And spoiler alert – it is the same advice that Moses gave to Israel when they were to meet Him!
And, as was the case in the days of Moses, the Lord will come down in the sight of His people. Then those that are His will ascend to meet Him in the clouds (1 Thes 4:14-18). We need also to take not of the fact that having been with God, Moses’ face shone with His glory. This reminds believers that following the resurrection and rapture, we too shall be seen in His likeness and glory!
