Col. 1:11 “Strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience.”
The word “power” here came from the Greek word “dunamis” which means “strength, power, or ability.” It is the root word of our English words dynamite, dynamo, and dynamic.” Now what is this power for? Why is it given to us? Is it for the attaining of what? Great miracles? Healing the sick? Controlling people and powers? Commanding the angels maybe? What are we going to do with this power? Oh yeah, here it is “For the attaining of all steadfastness and patience.” Not sure if many will like its purpose.
Aren’t we patient people already? The book of Revelation tells us that one characteristic of the last church, Laodicea, is that, we are wealthy with material richess that takes away our patience and steadfastness. There are many things that stand against a Christian, against a godly life, in this age. Perseverance and steadfastness are easy… at the start. But anything longer than that can be difficult!
