Jos. 5:14 “And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?”
When Joshua is about to go to Jericho and destroy it, there stood a Man in front of him who has a drawn sword in His hand. This Man is ready for battle. Joshua asked him “Are you our enemy or our ally?” The Man told him “Nay, but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come.” Then Joshua realized that this Man is no other than the Lord Himself and Joshua worship Him.
The Lord is not our enemy. He is not also our ally. Instead, HE IS OUR CAPTAIN. This means that this is not our battles, but His. Most servants, pastors and ministers of the Lord today fail because they don’t realize this. They think that the battles for the ministry are theirs and that they need to win for the Lord. They don’t realize that the battle is the Lord’s, not ours. He is your Captain; it is His battle. Remember this every time you feel hopeless or discouraged in the ministry. When you won, that’s because the Lord’s won. When you fail, that’s because the Lord allows it to fail. The most important thing is, you make yourself available for the Lord. And that all that matters to Him – that there is someone whom He can use and is always available for Him.
We are still on the Joshuanic Ministry right now. There are still many battles needed to win. There are still many fortresses needed to be destroyed. Just be available for your Captain.
