Rev 3:5 “He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”
The true believers will be clothed in white and the promise is given that their names will never be removed from the Lamb’s book of life. This book is a registry of all true believers throughout the ages that have eternal life. While some take this phrase of not erasing names from the book of life as a warning, others see it as a promise. I see it as a promise because of when this book was written. For example, are names added to this book when a person is saved? When they die and still believe? When was this book written? In God’s foreknowledge of all events, it was actually written before the foundation of the world!
Now above all things the greatest joy we receive should come from knowing that our names are written in this book. You probably remember when Jesus’ disciples came back after their time of ministry, they were rejoicing over all that happened and that even the demons obeyed them. Jesus Himself was joyful because of their joy but also said:
“Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven.” (Luke 10:20)
