Pro. 29:25 “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the LORD shall be safe.”
There are different kinds of fears, examples are: Peladophobia (the fear of bald people), and Chaetophobia (the fear of hairy people). But what is the fear of man? It is an unhealthy worry or concern about what people think of you, or will do to you. It leads to trying to please man, not God. It’s huge and a great tactic of Satan’s. This snare of the fear of man immobilize many believers. It can paralyze us, making us totally inactive for Gods kingdom. What’s sad is that, a lot of the time when we’re scared of what people are thinking, those thoughts are actually not true.
It was this fear that caused Abraham (the Father of faith!) to twice say that Sarah was his sister before Pharaoh and King Abimelech. It was this fear that caused Aaron to bow to the people’s opinions and make a golden calf. It was this fear that caused 2/3 of Gideon’s army to leave as well as forcing Elijah to run and hide in a cave from Jezebel. It was the fear of man that made Nicodemus come to Jesus by night, Pilate to condemn Jesus, and caused even Peter to not eat with Gentiles when Jews were around (Gal. 2:11-13). We must all learn to put God above our fear of men. We must remember that the Lord is with us and that the fear of man is just a False Evidence Appearing Real.
