Rev. 2:14 “But I have a few things against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.”
We should always remember that the fruit of a person’s life is not their gifts or ability to perform signs and miracles. It is their CHARACTER. Balaam is a prophet of God. He has a gift of a prophet of God, but he used it against the will of God. Character is better than gift. Gift from God will be a cursed if it landed in a wrong character. So look for character.
The difference between the fruit of the flesh and the fruit of the spirit is easy to see in the character of a person. A person who only operates in the flesh will have the fruit of the flesh. But a person who is spiritual will have the fruit of the Spirit. I am not saying that gift is wrong, but if you have to choose between the two, choose character.
