Col. 3:2 “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”
In the Bible there is a man named Demas. Do you know Demas? He was a worker and a co-minister of Apostle Paul. When Paul wrote to the Colossian church, he wrote that Demas sends his greetings (Col. 4:14). When Paul wrote to Philemon, he again mentioned Demas, His fellow worker, sends his greetings (Phil. 1:24) . When he wrote 2nd Timothy, his last ever letter before being executed by the Romans, he asked Timothy to “make every effort to come to me soon; for Demas, having loved this present world, has deserted me.”
It is sad to know that even the co-worker of the Apostle Paul, Demas, was not spared from the lure of materialism. And this is even worse today, in this Laodicean Age, where the Church loves materialism and ministers themselves are the ones promoting it. The verse above told us to set our minds in the Spirit realm or the Spiritual things since these things cannot be destroyed and are unchanging, and not on earthly things or material things that can easily be gone.
