Esther 4:16 “Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my maids will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”
One of the bravest thing that a person can do while living here on earth is to have that leap of faith and surrender everything to the will of God. It is forsaking our own human will and doing the will of God even if it will put you in great danger. Although we only do this when we are out of options, in the first place, our priority should be to surrender our whole life to God. But this is always hard to do since our fleshly character is still strong in us.
“If I perish, I perish” signifies that Esther is determined and ready to risked her life for the good of her people; and if such was the pleasure of God that she should lose it her life, she was content, and acquiesced in His will, leaving herself entirely in His hands, to dispose of her as He thought fit. This is also what happened to Jacob Genesis 43:14 when he said “If I am bereaved, I am bereaved.” He don’t want Benjamin, the love of his life, to go to Egypt since he might be killed there. But the Lord has always great surprises for those who are willing to give up everything in order to do His will. And the Lord never disappoints these people. When we know how to completely surrender our lives to our Lord, He will never disappoint us.
