Num. 23:9 “As I see him from the top of the rocks, and I look at him from the hills; Behold, a people who dwells apart, And will not be reckoned among the nations.”
This prophecy is being fulfilled today. There are 185 nations that are members of the United Nations. 184 of them are eligible to serve on the United Nations Security Council, the key deliberative group of this world body. One is not. Guess who? Iraq is eligible. So is Iran. And so, too, are Cuba, Libya, North Korea, Sudan and Syria.
The Charter of the United Nations proclaims “the equal rights…of nations large and small.” But only Israel, among all the UN members, is denied that right. The reason for this is that to be eligible to serve on the UN Security Council you need to be a member of a regional group. Israel is the only nation that has not been allowed to join a regional group. The other nations won’t have them. They are a people who dwell apart, not reckoned among the nations just as this verse prophesied.
