Gen. 17:15-16 God also said to Abraham, “As for Sarai your wife, you are no longer to call her Sarai; her name will be Sarah. I will bless her and will surely give you a son by her. I will bless her so that she will be the mother of nations; kings of peoples will come from her.”
Very simple quiz question for you: Name two women in the Bible whose age is given.
‘Ok…’ you say… ‘Argh there’s Sarah. And argh… there’s… um, well, there is also, argh… Hmmm… there is only Sarah!’
Sarah is the only woman, whose age is mentioned in the Bible (maybe because you don’t ask a lady her age!) – Another thing is, Sarah’s age is important to establish first in order to emphasize the miraculous birth of this promised child Isaac (which is a picture of Christ). With her age given, we know this birth must have been from God and God alone. And the same is true of the Lord Jesus (not because of old age but because of the virgin birth).
