Dan. 10:8 “So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless.”
Every time in the Scriptures, whenever a person encounters the majesty of God, there is always an overwhelming sense of their own inadequacy. Whether it is Moses, Isaiah, Daniel or John the result is still the same – they sense their own ‘smallness’ and inadequacy in the light of an almighty God. Here for example, though Daniel is a godly man as he was, the vision of God left him to face the floor and made his face turn a grim shade of grey! It was so overwhelming that it made him fell into a deep sleep.
The holy fear for God is missing in this age. Some thought that if ever the Lord Jesus will appear to them today, they would run up and throw their arms around Him for they think that He is their ‘buddy’ or ‘best friend’. Is this really so? I believe, when we see Him, we are going to see ourselves for what we are and see Him for what He is and we will be in disbelief why He became like us so that we could become like Him. I believe we will be face down in worship and reverential awe. And then we will understand and experience what grace really is in all its fullness.
