The Power of Singing and Praising

2 Chro. 20:22 “And when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and mount Seir, which were come against Judah; and they were smitten.”

One of my favorite passages of the Bible that shows the power of singing and praising is the whole chapter 20 of 2 Chronicles. I recommend reading the whole chapter. Here, Jehoshaphat was alarmed as the armies of Moab, Ammon and mount Seir were coming against Israel. He was going to be defeated so he turned his attention towards the Lord. What does the Lord get him to do? He goes out against the enemy armies with his singers and worshippers first! And in doing so, the Lord confused and smote their enemies and a great victory was gained!

Likewise, the Lord calls us to sing and praise Him in the midst of trials. He wants us to pour your heart to Him and I tell you, our burdens will be lifted. He is able to give us a song in the night. It is a song of thanksgiving in the midst of the trial that benefits us more than complaining to the Lord. It is the power that breaks the prison of Paul and Silas when they sang praises to God (Acts 16:25-26).
