1 Pet. 1:23 ‘For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.”

It is useful to think that death is a “separation”. When we die physically, there is a separation that occurs between our bodies and our soul. The second death is eternal separation from God. hat is, when the spirit is separated from the soul in the lake of fire. But remember what D.L. Moody used to say “If you are born once, you will die twice; if you are born twice, you will die once.” That is, if we are born again from above in this life then we will still die physically (because this body is still of the first creation) but we will never die spiritually because the new life is Christ’s life and He will never perish!
