The True Knowledge of God

2 Pet. 1:2 “Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord.”

Grace and Peace can only be multiplied through the Knowledge of God. The question is: What does it mean by having the Knowledge of God? The Bible says that having the Knowledge of God is not just merely having the head knowledge about God (although it involves head knowledge). But It speaks of being one with God. When Adam “knew” Eve, Adam became one Eve (Gen. 4:1). Partaking the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil means being one with Good and Evil. The Foolish Virgins cannot make it to the rapture because the Lord said He did not “knew” them (Mat. 25:12), which means He did not become one with them.

There is only one way for us to “Know” the Lord. There is only one way for us to became one with the Lord. And that is through His Word (John 1:7). Having the Knowledge of the Word is having the Knowledge of God. As D. L. Moody once said “I prayed for faith and thought it would strike me like lightning. But faith did not come. Then one day, I read – ‘Now faith comes by hearing. And hearing the word of God.’ I now began to study my Bible and faith has been growing ever since.”
