John 8:32 “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free.”
Once, a young believer went to his pastor and said “It is no use! No matter how much I hear the truth you are preaching, I don’t retain anything of it. I’m like a sieve!” The wise old pastor replied “Indeed, if you hold a sieve under a running tap, it’s probably not going to retain much of the water. But at least you’ll have a clean sieve!” And that is so true. If you don’t remember much of what you read or hear, the Word of God will still be active and you will be washed with the water of the Word!
Another wonderful thing about knowing the truth is, it will set you free. Every time you hear the truth, it sets you free. So even though you will forget it, its power of setting you free have already taken effect once you have known it. So do not underestimate the hearing of truth.
