Eze. 37: 3-4 “He asked me, “Son of man, can these bones live?” I said, “O Sovereign LORD, you alone know.” Then he said to me, “Prophesy to these bones and say to them, ‘Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD!”
You probably remember this story. After Ezekiel prophesied, the bones started to rattle and came together. Soon there were tendons, flesh and skin and all those dead had come alive! In context, this is an illustration of the nation of Israel. God said that Israel would be scattered amongst the nations but He would bring them out of the graves and back into their own land in the last days. And we have seen this in the last 70 years, a fulfilment of this amazing prophecy! We still await the time when they, as a nation, will have the Spirit of God be poured out upon them as indicated also in this book.
But going a bit deeper, this question to Ezekiel speaks to us as well: “Son of man, can these bones live?” In other words, do you believe that I am the God of the impossible? Do you believe that I am the God who brings life out of death? Our Lord is in the business of making the dead alive again! We need to remember this always. He is a living God and the God of the living. And when we get into situations that seem that there is no way out, remember this question: CAN THESE BONES LIVE? If they can live, then the same God can bring about deliverance for you as well.
