2 Cor. 5:14 “For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead.”
When Christ died on the cross, He did not only die for the sinners, but the sinners also died with Him. He not only died for our sins, but He brought death to the sinners as well. We can also read this in Romans 6:2 and verse 6. In fact, this is the symbolism portrayed by water baptism. We go in death with Christ and we resurrect in Life with Him also. Everything that Christ has experience, we experience, because we are in Him (Col. 3:3).
We are dead, we have been crucified with Him and the Word of God goes on to charge us to “reckon [ourselves] to be dead to sin” (Rom. 6:11). Reckoning is an act of faith. We do not consider ourselves dead, because we cannot consider ourselves dead. The only way is for us to “reckon” ourselves dead in Christ. Christ’s death is our death. If we have this faith, we will have the experience of dying with the Lord.
