1 Cor. 11:31 “For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged.”
Judging ourselves means constantly checking ourselves for pride and self-exaltation. We need to constantly judge ourselves to prevent the growth of pride and self-exaltation in us and by doing this, the Lord will not judge us.
As a personal example, I speak quite regularly here in Makati church. Before the preaching, I’ll be praying “Takeover Lord. Speak to your children’s hearts, it’s not me but only you Who can do this!” I then give the preaching and afterward, very occasionally, a believer would tell me that it was a great message and that they are blessed. And sure enough, I begin believing in my own strength! Pride is always at the door, I am sure of that. I’m sure also that it is not just me, you’ve got that same nature in you too! Now it is right at this point that self-judgment is needed. We need to judge ourselves. Are you going to run with these prideful feelings or admit them to the Lord that this is your weakness and that this is further evidence that you need Him more and more in your life? As honestly as possible, make sure to judge your own heart!
