A Broken Heart and A Broken Spirit

Ruth 3:5 “And she said unto her, All that thou sayest unto me I will do.”

Ruth was getting good advice from Naomi! She had to cast herself at Boaz’ feet! She didn’t know what would happen next or what his reaction would be but she just knew that she needed to be where she was meant – at Boaz’ feet! Ever felt like that? You’re going through a time of testing and all you can do is throw yourself down at the Lord’s feet not really knowing what will happen next? To us, this seems like a huge risk but to the Lord, it is the very place where He wanted us to be.

This reminds me again of the wonderful verses we can read in Psalm 51:16-17 “For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.”

Our Lord does not desire your sacrifices or offerings. What He needs from us is a broken heart and a broken spirit. Are you in sin? Are you in great trouble? Are you in need of help? Our Lord does not want anything from you, He just wanted you to go to Him, cry to Him and present that broken heart and broken spirit of yours at His feet! And surely, those He cannot ignore!
