2 Tim. 4:2 “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction.”
There is a direct charge here from Paul, telling Timothy to stick to, and teach from, the word of God. Why? Because Paul knew the time would come when people wouldn’t want to hear the Word of Truth anymore. And I think, we are at that time. Ministers today don’t want to preach from the Bible anymore. They don’t want to make it their absolute. The Branhamites make the Spoken Word messages of Bro. Branham as their absolute. The Mormons have their Book of Mormons. The fanatics have the preachings of their favorite ministers as their absolute. Not the Bible anymore.
And this is not only because of the false ministers. We need to see also that the desire for unbiblical teaching is coming from the people themselves. In other words, if there weren’t gullible people wanting to hear the latest ‘sensational’ ear-tickling message and gobbling it up, the false teachers would have no platform in which to spout forth these false absolutes. WE NEED TO LOVE THE WORD. We need to love It with all our heart, with all our soul and with all our mind. It is only through It that we can be one with our Lord.
